# "BECAUSE" AS SECOND SENTENCE
Exercise
Step 1: Have the first line of your lyrics ready. Start the second line with the word “because.”

Step 2: Complete the second line with a sentence you are happy with.

Step 3: If you do not want to include the word “because” in your lyrics, remove it.

Theory
"Sometimes the mind goes blank. (...) When you write a line, try using the words "because" to start your next line, and then you can take it away, if you don't want it there in the actual lyric. Songs that we know and love, have patterns in the writing, where the first two lines will complete a thought, and then the next two lines will complete another thought. (...) You use the first line content, to get you to where the next line is gonna go. And this helps to work against that sort of brain freeze that tends to happen, when we're just trying to write lyrics and we don't know what we mean" (Stolpe, 2023).
